Rest is not a luxury.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” ~ Matthew 11:28-29

Hello My Dear Lovelies,

Did you know that December 2nd is declared a National Day of Rest for Black Women? Y’all, because I’m always busy doing all the things, I had to be reminded. So….guess who’s back, back again? Yes, it’s me, returning from a soulfully scholastic hiatus, ready to share a brief Memo From Mel with you all! 🌟✨

Life has been lifing! But although it is has been raging like a wild, untamed river, it’s necessary to step out of the current, catch our breath, and let the healing refreshment of Jesus soothe our weary souls. I’ve been floating on a cloud of therapy, rest, and soul-care, and girl, what a transformative journey it has been! Providing therapy has been as #emilypfreeman would say #lifegiving as well as #lifedraining; however sitting at my own therapist’s feet, has been a welcome compass, BUT GOD! Laying prostrate at the Master’s feet has given my soul the peace its been craving, which has me basking in His light even in the darkest corners.

Rest has been my sanctuary, a peaceful oasis, a sacred pause in chaos of life, especially as I escape from information overload. Resting in my Lord’s power & His radiant wisdom has allowed me to come back to center, to rejuvenate my mind, and return stronger than ever.

To my fierce, fabulous sistas out there, this one’s for you. It’s time to reclaim our God-given rest. Let’s walk this path together, holding each other up, praying each other through, celebrating our strengths together, and embracing our vulnerabilities without judgment. Let’s continue to create a masterpiece of spiritual support, love, and empowerment. Every day is a chance to practice radical self-care by attuning to the Lord and abiding in Jesus and to honor our bodies, minds, and souls. I promise I will create a space for us to share our stories, our laughter, our tears, and remind each other that we are never alone.

I’m ready to dive back in with a renewed spirit, a clear mind, and a heart full of gratitude! But most importantly, I will not neglect REST. Let’s worship, praise, and grow together. Here’s to embracing our healing journeys and lifting each other up! 💖🌸

With peaceful love,
